2012 arrives with a massive hangover, as 2011 is waved off never to be seen again. It wasn't a bad year I suppose, but it wasn't a great one either by any means. I started the year without a job, then got one for a while, then didn't have one for a while, and now I have one again. Seems to be how it's gone.
There have been some great times in the year though - particular highlights are my band coming together and getting pretty good, a great trip to the Edinburgh Festival in the summer, seeing Brighton get promoted last season, and experimenting with different haircuts. And I kind of feel like I'm starting this year on the front foot too. This time last year I didn't have a job and I was pretty down about a few things. This year I'm starting January with a job - albeit only a very temporary one, and a positive outlook. A positive outlook unlike my father it seems, who sent me a text last night which read;
"Happy New Year, it'll probably be shit though. Dad"
Maybe that's where my pessimism comes from?
