During a pub lunch today my mates and I had an interesting conversation about what celebrity deaths we might expect this year. Every year when anyone at all famous dies it is massive news. Like last year we had Amy Winehouse, Elizabeth Taylor and Osama Bin Laden. And there were many more. Gerry Rafferty, Michael Gough, Osama Bin Laden, Elisabeth Sladen, Jackie Cooper, Peter Falk, Clarence Clemons, Joe Frazier, Kim Jong Il, to name just a few. The elderly ones, who I guess are always going to go at some point, like Ken Russell and Anne Francis. I thought Michael Gough who played Alfred in the Batman films was a shame, as especially was Pete Postlethwaite.
So, who's it gonna be this year? Exciting, huh! Our money during lunch was for Patrick Moore in the elderly category. He seems to be in more of a state every time you see him - growing into a massive wrinkly, one-eyed space-hopper - and I say that fondly of him.
There are usually a few shock one's that come along, that have everybody talking about them - like Amy Winehouse last year, or Jade Goody, Michael Jackson and Princess Diana a few years back. It could also be somebody that people don't really like. In the past few years many of people have wanted evil political figures to die. People like Osama Bin Laden, Colonel Gaddafi, Margaret Thatcher.
This year it could literally be anyone. It could make you cry, cheer or completely indifferent. Have a think, use your imagination. Nobody is safe and everybody is unsuspecting. Maybe discuss it with the family at the dinner table or something.
